Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 15, 2026
NoChaser helps you change your relationship with alcohol. Because of what NoChaser is, the data you put into it is deeply personal — and we treat it that way. This policy explains, in plain language, what NoChaser collects, how it's used, and the control you have over it. We never sell your data to anyone.
What we collect
- Account information — your name and email address, handled by our sign-in provider (Clerk).
- Check-ins and tracking data — daily check-ins, drink logs, moods, cravings, triggers, streaks, and milestones you record.
- Journal entries — private reflections you write in the app. These are private by default and are only ever visible to a support person if you explicitly share a specific entry.
- Recovery plan and calendar data — coping plans, support contacts you add, and optional events you mark (for example, higher-risk occasions).
- Optional health data — metrics you choose to record, like sleep or energy. NoChaser only stores what you enter.
- Support circle information — names and roles of people you invite, and the sharing permissions you set for each.
- Billing information — Premium subscriptions are purchased on the NoChaser website and processed by Stripe. They cannot currently be purchased inside the iOS or Android apps, and NoChaser does not bill through Apple or Google. NoChaser never sees or stores your full card number.
- Usage analytics — Umami measures anonymous visits and navigation on NoChaser’s signed-out public website and is not used on authenticated product routes. When you enable ‘Share NoChaser usage analytics,’ NoChaser stores a restricted set of authenticated product-usage events in its consent-controlled first-party analytics system to understand general product usage and aggregate trends. HeyCatch no longer receives new authenticated NoChaser activity. Historical authenticated analytics data may temporarily remain with HeyCatch while NoChaser completes and verifies its documented deletion process.
How we use your data
- To run the core features: streaks, progress insights, reminders, and your recovery plan.
- To personalize the experience — for example, pattern insights and weekly summaries.
- To understand anonymous public-website visits through Umami and opted-in authenticated product usage through NoChaser’s consent-controlled first-party analytics.
- To operate Premium billing and view aggregate subscription totals. These totals use current subscription status only and never include card details, names, email addresses, or individual billing records.
- To power the optional AI coach: only if you turn on coach data access does the coach see your check-in, craving, and milestone history. With the toggle off, the coach has no access to your history. AI features use OpenAI's API to generate responses; content sent for this purpose is not used to train their models.
- To share updates with your support circle — only the specific categories you turn on per person, and never your journal unless you share an individual entry yourself. You can pause or revoke all sharing at any time, and an access log shows you every time someone viewed your shared page.
We do not sell your data, show you third-party ads, or share your personal information with data brokers. Ever.
Third-party services
- Clerk — sign-in and account security. Sees your email and login credentials.
- Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions. Sees your billing details; we see only subscription status.
- OpenAI — generates AI coach and summary responses. Receives only the content needed for each response, governed by the consent toggle described above.
- HeyCatch — legacy analytics provider. Authenticated collection is disabled, and HeyCatch no longer receives new authenticated NoChaser activity. Historical authenticated analytics data may temporarily remain with HeyCatch while NoChaser completes and verifies its documented deletion process.
- Replit — application hosting and database infrastructure.
Data retention & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account inside the app, or by emailing support@nochaserapp.com. Deletion is permanent and covers check-ins, journal entries, coach conversations, sharing settings, and health data.
How sensitive data is protected
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Journal entries and coach conversations are scoped to your account only. Support-circle pages use unguessable private links, enforce the exact permissions you set, and can be revoked instantly. Optional privacy mode and an app PIN add device-level protection.
Children's privacy
NoChaser is not directed at children and is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. Export is available in-app at Settings → Export your data. For anything else, email support@nochaserapp.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll notify you inside the app before they take effect. The date at the top reflects the latest revision.
